



Healthy change starts at TMU
Toronto Metropolitan University School of Medicine opened its doors in 2025,
offering a new approach to medical education in Ontario — one that draws on
the university’s commitment to community, diversity and inclusion, and
innovation to address the changing needs for health care delivery and practice.
We developed a flexible brand identity to help communicate the vision
and mission of the medical school — to provide access to greater health care
to those that need it most in all communities.
We were inspired by the community quilt, a symbol of community coming
together. Each section of a community quilt represents the uniqueness of the
individual and the collective community, at the same time. Sections of a
community quilt that are stitched together, reminded us of the commitment of
support that members of a community make to one another and the binding
strength of community.
We turned to the community to help communicate the changes to the healthcare
system they were asking for. And we turned to several members of the inaugural
MD class to help communicate their commitment to delivering healthy change as
they started their own journey to becoming the next generation of doctors.
